Teresa Gibson Counselling
for children, young people and adults of all ages.
About me
Teresa Gibson Counselling, based in Maidstone, Kent, offers a safe, confidential space where you can talk about your feelings and concerns. I am a qualified Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor with a first class Psychology degree.
I have over 20 years' experience working with children and young people, and have also worked with adults including those with a disability.
I provide face-to-face counselling in Maidstone, Kent as well as online, and telephone counselling sessions for children, young people and adults of all ages, offering a range of therapies to promote emotional well-being and personal growth.
I know that choosing a counsellor is difficult, there are many of us to choose from, but finding someone who is the 'right fit' is crucial for counselling to be effective. I appreciate that for some people it may be daunting to talk to someone who doesn't know them, and it can take time to build up trust in the counselling relationship but I will work at your pace.
People come to counselling for many different reasons - they may want help with feelings they have had for a long time, or may be struggling with a change in their lives, or may feel 'lost'. I can help people at all stages of their lives, from primary school-aged children to older adults. I will listen to you without judgement and we will work together to achieve your goals.
I consider myself to be friendly, down-to-earth, empathetic, warm and able to connect with children and adults alike.
I regularly attend workshops and training as part of my CPD and am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

Areas I work with:
Anger management Loss
Anxiety Menopause

My approach
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” - Carl Rogers
At the heart of my counselling approach is the belief that genuine change begins with self-acceptance. I offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment — a space where healing and growth can unfold at your own pace. Like Carl Rogers, I believe that every person has the inner resources needed for change, and that therapy is about helping you reconnect with your strengths, values, and sense of self. Your journey is unique, and my role is to walk alongside you with empathy, respect, and care.
I offer integrative counselling meaning I use a variety of methods tailored to your unique needs but my approach is mainly person-centred rooted in the belief that fundamentally you are the expert of you, your experiences and your feelings.

Initial contact - If you feel I may be able to help you or your child, please email me. I aim to reply within 24-48 hours and will offer you a free 15-minute introductory phone call where you can ask questions, talk about why you'd like counselling and together decide whether I could be the 'right fit' for you.
After our initial contact we will then arrange a first session to go through our therapeutic contract and discuss your expectations of counselling. This is also your opportunity to ask any other questions you might have. Sessions are 50-minutes long, weekly and can be on a long, or short, term basis.
Fees
Sessions are priced at £50 each, with concession options available. Please don't hesitate to inquire about eligibility for reduced rates.
Seeking help is not a sign of weakness - it is a brave step in your journey towards a happier, healthier life.
